Privacy notice
Last updated 2026-09-08T08:59:40Z · applies to stihl.ie
This notice explains what happens to your data when you use the STIHL dealer locator at stihl.ie. The short version: we don't ask you for any personal information, the page sets no cookies, and the only third party involved is Google, whose map and address-lookup service we use when you ask us to find dealers near a place.
Who is responsible
Origo Distribution Ltd ("Origo", "we"), the official STIHL importer for Ireland, is the data controller for this website.
Magna Drive, Magna Business Park, Citywest, Dublin 24, D24 VE8N
Email: marketing@origo.ie · Phone: +353 1 466 6700
The website is built and maintained on our behalf by Loco Digital (loco.ie), Dublin, and hosted on a server managed by Maxer Host Ltd in Ireland. Both act as our processors.
What we process, and why
| Activity | Data | Purpose and legal basis | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loading the page | Your IP address, browser type, the page requested, date and time (standard web-server logs) | Delivering the page, keeping the service secure and blocking abusive traffic. Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). | Server logs are rotated monthly and deleted after 12 months. |
| Searching for a place | The Eircode, postcode or town you type | If the place is not in our built-in list of counties and towns, we send it to Google's Geocoding service to turn it into map coordinates. We don't store what you type. Performance of the service you asked for (Article 6(1)(b)) and legitimate interests. | Not stored by us. |
| "Use my location" | Your device's approximate coordinates | Only when you press the button and your browser asks your permission. Used once, in your browser, to sort dealers by distance. Never sent to us. | Not stored. |
| Showing the interactive map | Your IP address and the map area you view are sent to Google when the map loads | The map is provided by Google Maps and loads only when you choose "Show interactive map" or "Show on map" for a dealer. Searching and browsing the list do not load it. Performance of the service you asked for. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. | See Google's policy. |
| Contacting a dealer | Whatever you share with them | Dealer phone numbers, emails and websites link directly to the dealer. Each dealer is an independent business and its own data controller. | Ask the dealer. |
Cookies and tracking
This page sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. See the cookie notice. If you load the interactive map, Google may set cookies on its own domains under its own policy; the list and search work without the map.
Where your data goes
Web-server logs stay on our hosting server in Ireland. Place searches and map views go to Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4), which may transfer data to Google LLC in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for access to, correction or erasure of personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability, where these rights apply. Because we don't keep anything that identifies you beyond routine server logs, there is usually nothing to return, but you're welcome to ask at marketing@origo.ie. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Dealers listed on this page
Dealer names, business addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and websites are published with the dealers' agreement as part of the STIHL approved dealer network. If you are a dealer and want your listing corrected, email marketing@origo.ie.
Changes
We'll update this notice if the way the page works changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
